Our Funding STREAMS

Since Weston Church Youth Project was established as a registered charity in 2017, we have set up funding streams which better clarify the purpose of the various groups and activities which we run. This was originally divided into 'Fun', 'Achieve', 'Engage' and 'Faith', however 'Engage' and 'Achieve' were superseded by 'Support' in 2024. You can find more information on these funding categories below, with reference to some of the key groups and activities which come under each stream.
In order to have a more detailed view of the various groups and activities which we run, head to the sections for Kids and Families or Young People respectively.

FUN

This division of WCYP aims to support children and young people through open access youth groups, trips, and residentials.

These groups and activities are focused on providing new experiences, improved self-esteem and confidence, positive role models, and raised aspirations.

As the most attended category of work within WCYP, the ‘Fun’ activities are often the method for WCYP to reach more children, young people and families so that further support can subsequently be provided through the ‘Support’ category (such as a referral to a mental health support group, for example).
SUPPORT

This division of WCYP aims to support children and young people through a variety of groups and activities focusing on mental health and emotional development, including schools work.

The key outcomes for the 'Support' category of work include increased confidence and emotional resilience, increased self-esteem, improved mental health, better relationships (with peers and families), and improved educational engagement and attainment.

This includes Resilient Kids, schools' work such as mentoring and 'drawing and talking', the Young Leader programme, and family work.
FAITH

This division of WCYP aims to support children and young to explore the Christian faith in a fun and engaging way.

These groups and activities are focused on sharing the Christian message (evangelism), providing Christian teaching, and other outcomes such as improved confidence and relationships, and having fun.

The majority of WCYP's 'Faith' work is run in parternship with Holy Trinity, the local Anglican Parish church which originally started WCYP. WCYP has also worked in partnership with HTW and KCC to launch 'Hope City' as a means of reaching Weston's 19-29's demographic with the Christian message.
